Meeting Shana Galen

So I am a book fanatic. Obviously. And I also love writing. Duh. And I have only met an actual-published-author once.

So one day I am at disney world with a bunch of kids from school. We were there on a field trip of sorts and had been dismissed to do whatever we like. Well the kids I was with are not just some random friends... they all are fellow members in my theatre troope. So naturally if you take a bunch of drama kids and stick them together in a theme park for a day what do we do? We sing everywhere we go. So me and five of my friends all decided to go see as many princesses as we can. Once we were in line to see Ariel we all started to sing "Part of your world" from "The little mermaid". And we decided that we sounded good enough and.... we sang to Ariel-SHE CRIED! Anyway, we continued on to see princesses, and also we continued on singing to them. We sang a song from their movie to each princess we saw. Well we were waiting for princess Tiana to get back from a break and we were pretty far back in line. Well I started to get nervous- I mean come on... how often is it that you get to sing to the princess version of yourself! I started talking to a nice family who was in line directly behind us. There was a young girl around 5 or 6, her father, and her grandmother. I started explaining to the grandmother about what me and my friends were doing and why. She was very interested and asked if that was what I wanted to do in life, sing. I told her that I loved singing but my real passion was writing. So she said "Well then I guess you should talk to my daughter". Her daughter came just then and I was informed that I had been talking to the mother of Shana Galen, who writes historical romance novels. Now I haven't read any of her work but hearing she was an author, naturally, I was enthralled with her. I hung on to her every word as she gave me advice about writing. She asked me who/what I liked to read and I named off some names. She was pleasantly surprised to hear me say Tera Lynn Childs.... her best friend! Tera is one of the writers who inspires me to write and hearing that Shana knew her made me go crazy. Then Shana-right in front of me- texted Tera and told her all about me and how much I loved her writing. Then TERA responded and told Shana to give me her e-mail and to e-mail her whenever. I broke down in tears because I was so happy. And thats when we got to the front of the line for Tiana. So me and my friends sang to Tiana and Shana FILMED us and SENT THE VIDEO TO TERA! AHHH! I was so ecstatic-Tera has a major in a field in theatre. So not only did I get to meet an author, sing to a princess, get to e-mail ANOTHER author, and get a video of my singing sent to a famous author, but I also got to get a response back from said author-Tera. What Tera sent me changed my life. She gave me the uumph I need to become an author like her and have a chance to inspire others to read and write just like me.

So yeah, that was the time I met Shana Galen in line at disney world. I will never forget that day.
