Obsessions/trying new things

So I have come to the conclusion that my life is ruled by my many obsessions. Some of which being:

  • Carrie Underwood
  • Doctor Who
  • REIGN!!!!!!
  • Jenna Marbles
  • Indina Menzel
  • Panic at the disco
  • Imagine Dragons
  • Emblem 3
  • Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • Tera Lynn Childs
  • The movie Frozen
  • The host
  • Harry Potter
  • Hunger Games
  • The lux series
  • Broadway musicals
  • Dancing
  • Singing
  • Blogging
  • EVERYTHING PARIS!
  • Martial Arts
  • etc.
So basically that's like a third of my obsessions.... and they all are my life. And they all inspire my writing. But you see the thing about having a lot of obsessions is that you more than likely with only develop more obsessions. Lately I have had a grown obsession with the 'idea' of me entering a pageant. Well of course I would never change my course of life to do pageants but for some reason I think that it would be extremely fun to do at least one. I want to enter a pageant so I can get a feel of how it all goes. I've worked a pageant before and it was crazy but I feel like being in one is a completely different thing. I would be lying if I didn't admit that part of this is because of my writing. I mean I honestly want to try one just to have the experience to go off of if the need be. That is one thing I love doing for my creative process. That may be one of the reasons that I have had my hand in a bit of everything...
  • Ballet (2 years)
  • Allstar Cheerleading (9 years)
  • Soccer (2 years)
  • Taekwondo (2 years)
  • Musical theatre (2 years)
  • Volleyball (1 year)
  • etc.
Anyway, the thing is that I feel that with every new experience comes new knowledge. For instance... if I wanted to write a scene based on combat I could use the knowledge I have on fighting from taekwondo. Also if I wanted to write something about a performer I have MANY different areas to choose from. I guess in short I am trying to say that I like trying new things to learn more about myself and the world I live in. So... I guess the main question is... should I do it? Do I really need to add more onto my plate? I'm not sure but I'm going to find out that's for sure.

Whats new Wednesday

So I was thinking about how so many bloggers have certain things to talk about on certain days. So from now on... every Wednesday will be "Whats New Wednesday". Basically I'll just talk about what ever is going on in life. Maybe I'll talk about the book(s) I'm reading.

Welllll today I had my first dance rehearsal of "Ragtime". Alsooooo.... i made some easy mac when I got home-right now- and logged onto here. My life is boring so this might be a short blog. Anywayyys... oh and I'm about to write more chapters in my novel.... I really should find a title for that.

Any suggestions??? Maybe I'll type up a quick introduction to the world of Paxton(main character in book)

Well I guess thats all.

Oh wait! I forgot to mention how much Allegiant(book three of divergent) is pissing me off.... okay bye now.... seriously thoa....

My road

So I've decided what this blog is going to be about. Its going to be about my road to becoming an author. Yeah, that's it.

I've never been good at keeping up with things like this but this time... this time will be different.

So as of right now I'm 15, a sophomore, and a thespian. That's my life. Or so it seems. That's how most people see me. As a fifteen year old who is in school and drama geek. Yes all those things are true but what they don't know is that when I get home... I'm a writer.

From the second I get home and finish my homework to right up until I go to bed.... I'm writing. As of right now I'm writing my second-the first one wasn't as good as planned- novel. It's a bit confusing to explain what its about so I'll save that for another post. I love writing. Its my passion. Currently the only person who has read my work is my best friend Becca... But I hope to change that.

About two days ago I was doing some research about writing contests for teens and I found one I really liked. So I entered. It wasn't anything spectacular, just something to get my name out there. I don't expect to win on my first try but hey, you never know.

Now I can't plan exactly how my trip down the road to being a published author will be but I can say that as of right now... I haven't even left the neighborhood.

CHECKPOINT 1:

  • Enter first writing contest- CHECK
  • Begin writing novel-CHECK

Meeting Shana Galen

So I am a book fanatic. Obviously. And I also love writing. Duh. And I have only met an actual-published-author once.

So one day I am at disney world with a bunch of kids from school. We were there on a field trip of sorts and had been dismissed to do whatever we like. Well the kids I was with are not just some random friends... they all are fellow members in my theatre troope. So naturally if you take a bunch of drama kids and stick them together in a theme park for a day what do we do? We sing everywhere we go. So me and five of my friends all decided to go see as many princesses as we can. Once we were in line to see Ariel we all started to sing "Part of your world" from "The little mermaid". And we decided that we sounded good enough and.... we sang to Ariel-SHE CRIED! Anyway, we continued on to see princesses, and also we continued on singing to them. We sang a song from their movie to each princess we saw. Well we were waiting for princess Tiana to get back from a break and we were pretty far back in line. Well I started to get nervous- I mean come on... how often is it that you get to sing to the princess version of yourself! I started talking to a nice family who was in line directly behind us. There was a young girl around 5 or 6, her father, and her grandmother. I started explaining to the grandmother about what me and my friends were doing and why. She was very interested and asked if that was what I wanted to do in life, sing. I told her that I loved singing but my real passion was writing. So she said "Well then I guess you should talk to my daughter". Her daughter came just then and I was informed that I had been talking to the mother of Shana Galen, who writes historical romance novels. Now I haven't read any of her work but hearing she was an author, naturally, I was enthralled with her. I hung on to her every word as she gave me advice about writing. She asked me who/what I liked to read and I named off some names. She was pleasantly surprised to hear me say Tera Lynn Childs.... her best friend! Tera is one of the writers who inspires me to write and hearing that Shana knew her made me go crazy. Then Shana-right in front of me- texted Tera and told her all about me and how much I loved her writing. Then TERA responded and told Shana to give me her e-mail and to e-mail her whenever. I broke down in tears because I was so happy. And thats when we got to the front of the line for Tiana. So me and my friends sang to Tiana and Shana FILMED us and SENT THE VIDEO TO TERA! AHHH! I was so ecstatic-Tera has a major in a field in theatre. So not only did I get to meet an author, sing to a princess, get to e-mail ANOTHER author, and get a video of my singing sent to a famous author, but I also got to get a response back from said author-Tera. What Tera sent me changed my life. She gave me the uumph I need to become an author like her and have a chance to inspire others to read and write just like me.

So yeah, that was the time I met Shana Galen in line at disney world. I will never forget that day.
